Hydro-excavation, also known as Non Destructive Digging, is an environmentally friendly process of using high pressure water and vacuum system to safely excavate around underground infrastructure and tree roots, where traditional mechanical excavation equipment cannot be used.
The water is used to break up even the hardest ground around services safely and precisely, vastly reducing the risk of damage to utilities compared to manual or mechanical digging. This leftover slurry is then removed by a powerful vacuum into a large debris tank. Therefore, this method requires less back fill, labour and restoration.
Companies such as utility providers, telecommunications, civil and construction companies and councils engage us to use hydro-excavation techniques where there is the need to work close to utilities, power cables, tree roots, sewer pipes, internet cables, storm drains and other such underground assets, or in environmentally sensitive areas.
No matter the project, Hydro excavation is becoming the preferred method in projects many areas due to precision, safety and speed of the technique.
The cost of hydro-excavation may vary slightly from project to project, due to truck size, requirements for waste disposal, existing ground conditions, location requirements and cost of labour.
